Message from the Director

As believers in Christ, most of us have learned that God's timing is always far superior to our timing It has taken one year and two months for the Eunice Chambless Hospitality House Search Committee to locate the couple the Lord wanted us to call as the new permanent directors. In the midst of many closed doors during this search, I must admit to you my concern, frustration, and impatience. The Lord, however, had the couple right here in Abilene, but they just were not available at this time last year.

I am thrilled to announce to you the calling of Tim and Melicent "Yogi" Christesson as the new Directors of the Eunice Chambless Hospitality House by a vote of the board on Thursday evening, July 17th. Tim and Yogi served for almost eight years as House Parents at Hendrick Home for Children here in Abilene. In fact, they had the responsibility of assisting the FLDS children from Eldorado, Texas who spent several weeks in Abilene this Spring. Tim is a native of Acuff, Texas and Yogi is a native of Lubbock, Texas. They are faithful members of Southwest Park Baptist Church, and three years ago Tim was ordained as a deacon by the church. Some of you may have met Yogi at the Lifeway Christian Store since during the school year she has worked there part time for almost three years. They worked several weekends at the House prior to us calling them and showed excellent skills in relating to the guests who came. Tim is a gregarious man who never meets a stranger, and Yogi loves to keep things clean; in fact, Loretta McBeath, our interim director, said you should not set your coffee cup down empty or Yogi will take it to the kitchen to wash it! Now don't misunderstand. We still need those of us in the churches to help occasionally in the awesome weekly task of cleaning this 38 bed facility.

Please consider scheduling them to come speak to your church on a Sunday night or Wednesday night. They are quickly grasping the tremendous significance of this cooperative ministry.
